5 Stars
Perfect for:
Families, couples, honeymoons
Built to blend with its surroundings, Heritance Kandalama is one of the renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa’s most eco-friendly designs. Integrating the rock face it nestles against, all of the beautifully designed rooms, suites and public areas look out over the forest – which is alive with monkeys and birds – the lake, and Sigiriya Rock in the distance. This is an eco-tourist’s paradise.

Restaurants & Bars
With the main restaurant featuring themed buffets every evening, a fine-dining venue, an all-day café and a bar, plus several private dining experiences, there’s enough variety to keep guests happy. Kanchana is the main restaurant and it is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; Kaludiya is the hotel's fine dining venue with a global menu and Kanchana Lounge & Bar is where you'll find the cocktails.
Meal Plan
You have a few options to choose from when it comes to the meal plans at Heritance Kandalama. These options are Bed & Breakfast only, if you fancy eating out most of the time, Half Board and Full Board, if you think you'll be spending more time at the hotel. You can decide on what works for you and the team will be more than happy to accommodate.
Spa & Wellness
The Coco Spa has a steam room, a sauna and a tempting list of massage, ayurveda and massage rituals. Opt for the 90-minute signature Coco Spa massage which combines shiatsu, Balinese and acupressure techniques to serenity-inducing effect. There’s a small 24-hour gym equipped with treadmills, cycling machines, a step machine, a rowing machine and free weights. Outside, there’s a jogging track, tennis courts and bicycles to rent.
Adventure enthusiasts can embark on guided nature walks to explore the nearby wilderness, embark on a birdwatching tour to discover the region's avian diversity, or participate in a range of outdoor activities such as cycling and kayaking. Cultural enthusiasts can delve into the rich heritage of the area with visits to nearby ancient sites, including the Sigiriya Rock Fortress and the Dambulla Cave Temple.
The 152 rooms and suites here are located in one of two wings, one of which has views of Dambulla Rock and the other – our particular favourite – overlooks the iconic Sigirya Rock Fortress. For the best views, and the luxury of a whirlpool bath, opt for a Deluxe Sigiriya Room.
