DAY 1-2
SAN JOSE
Upon arrival in San Jose, you will be met by a Tailored Journeys representative and will be transferred to your lodge for the next two nights.
Your guide will take you on a walk through the surrounding cloud forests, along the lodge's stunning private trails, to find picturesque waterfalls. Along the way, you’ll learn fascinating secrets of the rare and vulnerable cloud forest eco-system.

DAY 3-5
ARENAL VOLCANO AND LA FORTUNA
Head to the Arenal Volcano National Park for the next 3 nights.
Experience the Sky Trek in Arenal: ride the tram up the mountain, and then get back to the base riding thrilling ziplines. There are no walking segments, simply get off one zipline and jump on to the next cable.
Then embark on an Arenal Volcano tour, which takes you to the northwest part of the volcano. Once there you will hike on the trails that cross the rainforest and over a large lava flow from the 1968 eruption. During the tour, your guide will be able to tell you all about the history of the majestic mountain and the Arenal Volcano National Park.
You'll also have the fantastic opportunity for a rafting adventure. Challenge yourself as you paddle through fun & safe rolling rapids, then play around in tranquil river pools in an isolated rainforest river canyon! Hopefully you will get to see lots of wildlife like monkeys, sloths and tropical birds such as ospreys, oropendolas and toucans.
A gentler tour brings you up close and personal with some of Costa Rica’s most adorable, furry critters as they simply hang out in the treetops near the Arenal Volcano. The sloth is one of Costa Rica's most-endearing icons, and this tour has been developed for nature enthusiasts who would like to take an easy-going drive around the picturesque Arenal Volcano area.

DAY 6-10
NICOYA PENINSULA
Next stop is the Papagayo Gulf, in the north Pacific region of Costa Rica, where you will be spending the next 4 nights.
Tamarindo Beach is one of the best sites for learning to surf in Costa Rica. You'll have a beginner's surf lesson for two hours. Surfing at Tamarindo is very safe, fun and easy going, and the guides will give you tips to learn all you need.
Board the catamaran at the Flamingo Marina, and sail to some of the most beautiful, secluded beaches and snorkel locations in Costa Rica. You will have the opportunity to experience marine wildlife such as dolphins, whales, sea turtles, tropical fish, and manta rays. Sailing along the coastline will give you a completely different view of Costa Rica. You can take part in guided snorkel tours, swimming, kayaking, and fishing. Sailing back at sunset is the perfect end to an unforgettable Costa Rican experience.
