Cape Town 2025 & 2026 AFRICA | SOUTH AFRICA

In between the majestic Table Mountain and the stunning waters of the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Town is a blend of natural beauty, cultural vibrancy and rich history. This busy metropolis is a melting pot of diverse cultures, traditions, languages and cuisines.

Stroll through the streets of Bo-Kaap, where you'll see brightly coloured houses and cobblestone lanes, reflecting the heritage of Cape Malay culture. Wander around the busy markets of Green Market Square and the Old Biscuit Mill, where artisans show off their work and vendors tempt you with tantalising flavours of local delicacies.

If you are more outdoorsy, then Cape Town is the place for you! Why not hike to the top of Table Mountain for the ultimate views or climb up Lion's head for an incredible sunrise or sunset. Take a dip down at Cape Peninsula to cool off. If history is more your thing, then visit Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned during the apartheid era. Cape Town Castle should also be on your to-do list, as its the oldest surviving colonial building in South Africa.

At night, Cape Town really comes alive! Head to a trendy rooftop bar and sip cocktails as the sunsets, or dance the night away to the rhythms of African music in a local jazz bar.

No matter what kind of holiday you are looking for, Cape Town ticks all the boxes. Take in all the stunning surroundings, adventure and explore, or simply unwind and relax.

Things to do and see in Cape Town

Table Mountain

Standing over Cape Town, Table Mountain is an iconic symbol of natural beauty and wonder. Its distinctive flat-topped silhouette, usually covered by the mystical 'table cloth' of clouds, brings in people from around the world.

You can reach the summit by cable car for a 360-degree view or for the more adventurous, you can hike along trails to see the unparalleled panoramas of the city, coastline and surrounding landscapes.

Table Mountain is home to very unique flora and fauna, including the endemic fynbos vegetation and the charismatic rock hyrax, perfect for nature enthusiasts.

Cape Peninsula

Cape Peninsula is a breath-taking stretch of land where rugged cliffs meet the Atlantic Ocean. Home to iconic landmarks such as Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope, this penisula is full of natural wonders.

Explore the pristine beaches, lush coastal vegetation and scenic drives along the winding coastline roads. There are plenty of opportunities for hiking, wildlife spotting and historical exploration in Cape Peninsula.

Visit the quaint fishing villages of Kalk Bay and Simon's Town to get a glimpse into the region's maritime history, while the vibrant communities of Hout Bay and Muizenberg buzz with creativity and charm.

Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens

Located on the eastern slope of Table Mountain, the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens are home to a large collection of indigenous plants, from fynbos heather to bright strelitzias and proteas (South Africa’s national flower).

There’s also a conservatory housing flora that grows in more extreme conditions, from mountain peaks to arid deserts. In addition, the gardens regularly host stone sculpture exhibitions and outdoor concerts. There are shady, secluded spots to sit in, or explore the pathways that meander through the woods and bushes in the upper areas of the gardens, which run unfenced into the slopes of the mountain.

Whale Watching and Shark Cage Diving

The Cape Town coastline is visited by numerous whale and dolphin species, including southern right whales and humpback whales, which migrate each year from the icy waters of Antarctica to have their young.

Gansbaai, a two-hour drive from Cape Town, is the main launch pad for whale watching cruises, as well as shark cage dives, as high numbers of great white sharks patrol the waters between Dyer Island and Geyser Rock.

This is an exhilarating way to acquaint yourself with these ominous but graceful creatures in their natural environment, whether you remain on the boat and watch them feeding on the surface or opt to be lowered into the water inside a galvanised steel cage for a closer view.
