Where to go in 2023 - our month by month guide

We're hoping 2023 will be a bumper year for international travel. In anticipation, we have prepared a travel calendar to help plan your next adventure.
Escape the winter blues in the northern hemisphere and head 'Down Under' for a steamy summer in Australia.
February is a great time to head to Costa Rica. It's mainly dry on the Pacific Coast side of the country, perfect conditions for wildlife spotting.
Cherry blossom season can start as early as late March in Japan, depending on the location you are visiting. Be sure to check out the local sakura forecast (a weather forecast dedicated specifically for blossom viewing) for a more accurate prediction for prime cherry blossom splendour.
May is a great time to visit Botswana as the temperatures are getting dryer and cooler, which means the animals will be more active. Instead of sticking to game drives, why not opt for a boat trip along the Okavango Delta's waterways to see the wildlife from a different perspective. Though it's never crowded in Botswana, you can take advantage of less visitors (and possibily lower prices) in May than later in the season.
June is a wonderful time to visit Peru, just after the rainy season ends in May. The landscape is lush and temperatures are warm and dry but cooler at altitude. It's the perfect time to hike the Inca Trail.
It's hot and dry and the ideal beach weather in July in central Vietnam. Further north, there's a slightly greater chance of rain, but this also means fewer crowds.
Beaches are at their best in August in Sri Lanka, especially on the East Coast. The waters are calm and idyllic, perfect for families with small children.
September is the last month of peak seaon in Tanzania and in the middle of the dry season. You've also got a good chance of catching the Great Wildebeest Migration, an exciting and memorable scene across the Serengetti.
It's warm and sunny in the north of India in October, as the monsoon rains ease. There's a greater chance of precipitation in the south, but you'll benefit from less crowds just before the peak season begins in November.
November marks the start of summer in South Africa. It's a great time to drive the Garden Route and perhaps spot some whales before they migrate south. While it's wetter in safari viewing areas like Kruger, you'll have less crowds and lusher landscapes.
Dubai in December is the perfect antidote for the winter blues in the northern hemisphere. Temperatures are warm, but not scorching hot. There's a host of festivals during this time too, like the Dubai International Film Festival as well as the Rugby World Sevens Series.
