Our team was recently in Tanzania and we’re bursting to share our experiences with you. Our intrepid partners in Tanzania showed us around their properties in the Ngorongoro National Park, Tarangire National Park and the mighty Serengeti. We visited luxury tented camps and beautifully appointed lodges, even staying in one of the rooms at Highlands Lodge featured in our new brochure.
The wildlife in Africa never ceases to amaze us. We were just meters away from a lioness and her cubs on a game drive in Seronera in the Serengeti, an area famed for big five sightings all year round. But the real highlight was towards the end of our week-long journey, when we witnessed first-hand, an extremely rare late season wildebeest migration across the Mara River. Usually, the wildebeest migrate south from July to October, but because of late rains this year, we were on hand in November to experience this breath-taking spectacle. Imagine seeing thousands of wildebeest storming past your safari truck, just meters away. The ground was shaking, and the thunder of hooves reverberated through our bones. It’s something we’ll never forget.

Nikki Ray is our newest team member
We have a new face on the Tailored Journeys team. We are delighted to welcome Nikki Ray to the team. She's lived in South Africa for over five years, creating itineraries for her clients through South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. Nikki has also worked as a tour leader through East and Southern Africa, where she also embarked on a lengthy trip through West Africa, all the way down to Cape Town.
As well as having travelled through New Zealand, Australia and South East Asia, Nikki is a Latin America specialist. She's travelled through Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, the Galapagos, Venezuela, Colombia and Paraguay. Most recently, she spent two years working for a tour operator creating luxury tailor-made itineraries to Latin America. We are fortunate to have her join us and help us offer our clients the unrivalled knowledge of the destinations we promote.
