The capital of the Emirate of Dubai, the city of Dubai is located on the coast of the Persian Gulf, and is synonymous with size and pushing the limits – first, largest, tallest. Aside from this, the attraction of the metropolis is a dreamy world of sites and unheard-of luxuries; shopping centres, nightlife, and cutting-edge hotels. Famous constructions include Burj Khalifa, The Palm, Burj Al Arab, The World Island.

Although Dubai strictly safeguards its traditional practices, it allows space for other religions to breathe, a rare quality amongst the conservative Arab world. The combination of all this means Dubai has emerged as a cosmopolitan mega power, a global city, and travel, business, and cultural hub of the Middle East.

Things to do and see in Dubai

Visit the Burj Khalifa

The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world and a global icon. Truly a feat of engineering, the building represents the conceptual heart and soul of the city of Dubai.

At 828m tall, this magnificent structure is located next to Dubai Mall and has drawn visitors from all over the world since opening in 2010. The unmatched Burj Khalifa view can be taken in from not one but two observations decks – the two-storey At the Top on the 124th and 125th floors, as well as one of the world’s highest observation decks (555m) on the 148th floor.

You can choose to dine in the restaurant and lounge At.mosphere on the 122nd floor, or experience new heights at The Lounge, Burj Khalifa, which is spread across floors 152, 153 and 154, making it the tallest lounge on the planet.

Go Dune Bashing in a 4x4

Go on an exhilarating offroad adventure in the middle of the desert. Take a four-wheel drive, accompanied by an experienced driver, add some gigantic sand dunes and let the fun begin! It can be a little scary as the 4x4 skirts down the side of a towering dune, so it's wise to go with the experts if it's your first time.

We can arrange an evening desert safari at Arabian Adventures for a convenient way to sample all the desert has to offer. Begin the tour with a fun drive through the sands at dusk, before arriving at a Bedouin-style camp for a lavish Arabian BBQ and live entertainment, like belly dancing! Afterwards, when the camp lights are extinguished, bask in the serene stillness of a star-lit desert sky.

Visit the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo

Don’t miss the giant 10 million-litre tank at Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, which contains more than 33,000 aquatic animals and the largest collection of sand tiger sharks anywhere. There are numerous ways for visitors to experience the main Aquarium tank, which measures 51 meters in length, 20 meters in width, and 11 meters in height, and is one of the largest suspended aquariums on the planet.

Rising to the third floor of Dubai Mall, the aquarium is among the city’s most popular attractions, enjoyed by adults and children alike. It is home to 140 species of sea life and offers many incredible ways to experience the underwater world. Stroll through a 48-metre tunnel, with the aquarium enveloping you from overhead and around. It’s a complete fish-eye view, with sand tiger sharks and stingrays swimming overhead.

Stroll Around Dubai Mall

Dubai Mall is the world’s largest destination for shopping, entertainment and leisure, located next to the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. Featuring over 1,200 retail stores, two major department stores and hundreds of food and beverage outlets, Dubai Mall covers more than 1 million sqm – an area equivalent to 200 football pitches.

Dubai Mall is the ultimate family entertainment destination with The Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, the Olympic-sized Dubai Ice Rink, children’s ‘edutainment’ concept Kidzania and a massive indoor cinema complex – just some of the ways to keep everyone busy.

Don't miss the indoor fountain (one of the most photographed spots in the mall), or The Village, which features a retractable roof opened in the winter months to offer shoppers an outdoor experience.

Visit Deira

Deira, Dubai, is a vibrant district that beautifully blends the old and new, offering a rich cultural experience for luxury travellers. As the historic heart of Dubai, Deira is home to bustling souks, including the famous Gold and Spice Souks, where visitors can explore a treasure trove of traditional Arabian goods. Beyond its markets, Deira offers a range of upscale accommodations, fine dining options, and waterfront views along Dubai Creek.

You can enjoy a leisurely abra ride, explore heritage sites, and experience the authentic charm of Dubai in one of the city’s most iconic neighbourhoods. Perfect for those seeking a luxurious yet culturally immersive stay, Deira provides an unforgettable glimpse into Dubai’s storied past.

Best Time to Visit Dubai

The best time to visit Dubai is from November to March, when the weather is pleasantly mild, with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C. During these cooler months, you can comfortably explore outdoor attractions, enjoy beach activities, and partake in events like the Dubai Shopping Festival. This period also offers the most vibrant atmosphere, making it ideal for experiencing the city’s mix of luxury, culture, and adventure.
