~ When is the best time to visit Mexico? - December through to April is the dry season when weather is most suitable for a holiday. November and May are the shoulder seasons either side of the peak dry season and can offer some good rates. July and August can be rainy and a little humid but the rain is tropical so only lasts a couple of hours. 

 

~ What is the local currency in Mexico and what is the tipping culture? - The official currency in Mexico is the Mexican Pesos, although US dollars are widely accepted and debit and credit cards can be used in many places. In terms of tipping, we suggest the following as a rough guide: 10-12% in restaurants and bars; $10-$20 a day per person for a guide; $5-$10 for a driver. 

 

~ What language is spoken in Mexico? - Spanish is the official language in Mexico but English is spoken in tourist areas. 

 

~ Do I need a visa to visit Mexico? - UK passport holders can visit for up to 180 days with a passport with a minimum 6 month validity and you'll need to fill in an immigration form to obtain a tourist card on arrival. 

~ Is Mexico good for honeymooners? - Yes - the Yucatan Peninsula is perfect for a holiday in romantic Merida; the iconic Chichen Itza combined with a Caribbean Riviera Maya beach makes for an ideal honeymoon option! 

 

~ Is Mexico safe for tourists? - Yes. Tourism has its own dedicated police force and tourism is key to the Mexico economy, so tourists are valued, protected, and well looked after. We recommend always travelling with a reputable tour operator where we can provide guides and chauffers for the duration of your trip. 

 

~ How long should I plan to stay in Mexico? - We recommend a stay between 10 days to 3 weeks but this of course depends on budget and how much variety you want to cover! 

 

~ Is Mexico good for families? - Yes – wildlife, natural beauty, history, culture, adventure, swimming, wonderful snorkelling and marine life with magical soft white sand tropical beaches provide variety and a great family holiday option and Mexico is not as expensive as some long-haul destinations.
