Horathapola Estate
OVERVIEW
About 1 hour north of Colombo International Airport, in the Marawila area.
Set on a 50-acre working coconut plantation. The main house is a 1920s planter’s bungalow (colonial style) that has been restored.
Features a small number of guest rooms (including large suites and a family suite). Rooms are furnished with antiques and large windows opening to gardens.
Guests can join cooking sessions using estate produce, take plantation tours, bicycle around the grounds, go on bullock cart rides, explore local village life.
Commonly used as a calm first/last night stop (before or after flights), offering a peaceful contrast to Sri Lanka’s bustling cities.
