Colombo, Sri Lanka’s bustling commercial capital, has a rich history that dates back over 2,000 years. The city’s architecture reflects this blend, from colonial-era buildings like the Old Dutch Hospital to the more modern landmarks that have emerged post-independence. Today, Colombo is an economic powerhouse and the country’s largest city, while still maintaining its historical charm. The remnants of its colonial past continue to coexist with a vibrant contemporary culture, making it a dynamic and fascinating city with deep historical roots.
