Brijrama Palace is one of the oldest landmarks of Varanasi and conveniently perched on the banks of Holy Ganges.
The palace dates back to 1812 with its historical elevator installed in 1918 to help the king climb the second floor. The elevator is the first sight of the hotel and also the first in India. The architecture and the design of the palace are directly influenced by the erstwhile ruling dynasty of the Marathas.
The sandstone walls and pillars graced with Maratha art accentuate the palace architecture. This is evident from the betel leaf runner along the roof corners of the walls- a signature pattern followed by Marathas during the ancient time.
Rooms and interiors are full of traditional furniture, antiques, walls are decorated with artworks and the furniture is draped with textiles from India’s oldest silk.

Located on the banks of Ganges, there is no better place to be in Varanasi. Brijrama Palace offers this unique opportunity to experience life on the river, witness the sunrise and the oldest city waking up to its own rituals. The famous Dashashwamedh ghat is a short walk from where one can observe the spectacular Arti ceremony.

The palace offers a Maharaja style experience with some innovative preparation in a low sitting dining experience and menu carefully designed. The special here is the ‘River boat’ dining experience where the guest enjoy the spectacular views of the ghats and enjoying the finest delicacies from the chef.

This small hotel has just 32 rooms located on three different floors. All the rooms and suites have been tastefully restored to blend heritage with contemporary comforts. Many rooms enjoy views of the Ganges and some even offering a 180 degree panoramic view.

The palace offers many unique and mesmerizing experiences starting from the check-in where the guests are transferred on a traditional Indian boat. The hotel ensures an authentic ‘Banarasi’ experience to the guests – whether it is specially curated food at the hotel, tasting Thandai milk concoction, the traditional ‘Paan’ by your bedside or music and dance performances.
