About this itinerary
This trip is for the adventurous family!
It is the perfect itinerary for a family wanting to experience all that Cambodia has to offer along with fun family activities and some time by the beach.
Commencing this trip in Siem Reap you will be accompanied by your own guide where you will discover the iconic Angkor Archaeological Park and be able to take part in a treasure hunt. You will also have the opportunity to visit some of the more remote Temples of Angkor.
Your journey will take you through Battambang and to the incredible Cardamom Mountains where you will stay in at the amazing tented camp resort and will have the chance to kayak, trek and visit waterfalls.
Your penultimate stay will be in Kep by the beach, here you will have a chance to relax for a number of days before heading to Phnom Penh for the final leg of your trip.
day 1-4 Siem Reap
You will also visit the more remote temples of Angkor, including the atmospheric Beng Mealea temple where tree roots gently weave through ancient stone walls. Lunch will be enjoyed at a traditional Cambodian house before returning to the city.
An evening at Phare Ponleu Selpak provides a wonderful introduction to Cambodia’s culture and creativity. Founded as an NGO to support young Cambodians through artistic training, the performances are energetic, vibrant and suitable for all ages, bringing Cambodia’s stories and history to life.
Accommodation: Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort
day 5-6 Battambang
Continue your journey to Battambang, Cambodia’s second-largest city and one of its most charming regions.
Along the way, stop at Tonle Sap Lake before continuing to Kompong Chhnang, located where the lake meets surrounding waterways. Here you will have the opportunity to visit local marble workshops and observe artisans transforming stone into intricate sculptures.
During your time in Battambang, explore bustling local markets, elegant French colonial architecture and historic temples including Wat Tahm-rai-saw and Wat Balat. Travel through beautiful countryside landscapes where life has changed little over generations, passing rice paddies, local workshops and traditional villages.
There will also be opportunities to experience everyday Cambodian life through activities such as sticky rice preparation, rice wine production, rice paper making and learning about the traditional fish paste, prahok. Your visit concludes with the small Angkorian temple of Ek Phnom before enjoying time to discover Battambang itself.
Accommodation: Bambu Battambang Hotel
day 7-8 Cardamom Mountains
Journey south into the spectacular Cardamom Mountains, home to Southeast Asia’s largest remaining tropical rainforest.
While much of the rainforest remains protected and inaccessible, this remarkable region offers the opportunity to experience one of Cambodia’s most important ecosystems. Although wildlife sightings are rare, the forest is home to elephants, bears, crocodiles and even tigers.
During your stay at the wonderful Cardamom Tented Camp, enjoy a variety of family-friendly experiences including kayaking, mountain biking, cookery classes, jungle walks and swimming beneath waterfalls.
Accommodation: Cardamom Tented Camp
day 9-12 Kep
Swap rainforest landscapes for Cambodia’s peaceful coastline as you continue to Kep for a relaxing beach stay.
Kep is a charming coastal town known for its seafood, laid-back atmosphere and beautiful scenery near the Vietnamese border. There is time to simply relax and enjoy the beach, or perhaps explore nearby islands such as Rabbit Island and discover more of Cambodia’s coastline.
Accommodation: Samanea Beach Resort
day 13-15 Phnom Penh
Complete your journey in Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s vibrant capital city.
Explore the city's history and culture with visits to the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, alongside the National Museum which houses an impressive collection of Khmer artefacts. You will also have the opportunity to visit Wat Phnom, the city's iconic hilltop pagoda.
Experience another side of Phnom Penh through a street food experience led by local chef Mr. Nara, discovering the rich diversity of traditional Khmer cuisine and everyday life in the city.
You will also enjoy a cycling experience on Koh Dach Island, travelling through local villages and peaceful landscapes before stopping at a traditional stilt house for lunch.
