About this itinerary

Discover the wild beauty of Australia's tropical north and rugged west on this unforgettable journey through some of the country's most remote and spectacular landscapes. From the vibrant waterfront city of Darwin to the ancient wilderness of Kakadu, the dramatic gorges of Katherine and the vast Kimberley, this itinerary showcases a side of Australia few travellers experience.

Follow a route that winds through UNESCO World Heritage-listed national parks, Aboriginal cultural landscapes and extraordinary geological wonders before reaching the white sands and turquoise waters of Broome. Along the way, encounter ancient rock art, cruise wildlife-rich wetlands, marvel at the iconic Bungle Bungles and experience some of the country's most breathtaking scenery.

Combining luxury accommodation with unforgettable adventures, this carefully curated itinerary offers the perfect balance of culture, wilderness and relaxation, before concluding in the sophisticated coastal city of Perth

day 1-3 Darwin & Litchfield National Park

One day is dedicated to exploring nearby Litchfield National Park, a spectacular landscape of waterfalls, rainforest pockets and towering sandstone escarpments. Swim beneath the cascading waters of Florence Falls, cool off in the crystal-clear pools of Buley Rockhole and marvel at the remarkable magnetic termite mounds, whose towering structures have fascinated visitors for generations. Surrounded by lush monsoon forest and dramatic scenery, Litchfield offers the perfect introduction to the natural beauty of the Top End before returning to Darwin for another tropical evening.
Accommodation: Hilton Darwin

day 4-5 Kakadu National Park

Continue your exploration with a visit to either Ubirr or Nourlangie, where some of the oldest Aboriginal rock art in the world tells stories that have been passed down through countless generations. Climb to the spectacular lookout above the Nadab Floodplain, where sweeping views stretch across the vast wilderness and the changing colours of the landscape create one of the Top End's most memorable sunsets.

Whether discovering ancient cultural sites, spotting wildlife or simply taking in the immense scale of this remarkable national park, Kakadu offers an unforgettable connection to Australia's natural and spiritual heritage.
Accommodation: Cooinda Lodge

day 6 Katherine & Nitmiluk National Park

Today, continue south to Katherine, where the dramatic sandstone landscapes of Nitmiluk National Park provide another unforgettable chapter in your Australian adventure. Home to the Jawoyn people, this spectacular region is defined by a series of ancient gorges carved over millions of years by the Katherine River.

Take to the water on a scenic cruise through Nitmiluk Gorge, gliding beneath towering sandstone cliffs whilst learning about the cultural significance of this remarkable landscape. For an even more breathtaking perspective, an optional helicopter flight reveals the full scale of the gorge system winding through the rugged Outback.

Later, unwind in the natural thermal waters of Katherine Hot Springs or simply relax at your lodge, reflecting on the incredible landscapes you've experienced before continuing west into the Kimberley.
Accommodation: Cicada Lodge

day 7-8 Kununurra

Today, cross the border into Western Australia and enter the spectacular East Kimberley, one of the country's last great wilderness regions. Vast landscapes, ancient ranges and towering boab trees replace the tropical wetlands of the Top End, creating a dramatic new chapter in your Australian adventure.

Your base for the next two nights is Kununurra, a remote outback town set on the banks of the Ord River. Spend time discovering the region's unique beauty with a cruise along the Ord River, keeping an eye out for freshwater crocodiles, wallabies and an incredible variety of birdlife that thrive within this remarkable ecosystem.

There will also be opportunities to explore Mirima National Park, affectionately known as the "mini Bungle Bungles", where striking sandstone formations provide a glimpse of what's to come. As evening approaches, head to Kelly's Knob Lookout or enjoy a peaceful sunset cruise on Lake Argyle, watching the Kimberley landscape glow in rich shades of red and gold as the day draws to a close.
Accommodation: The Kimberley Grande

day 9-10 Purnululu National Park

For a truly unforgettable perspective, take to the skies on an optional scenic helicopter flight, revealing the full scale and beauty of the famous beehive domes stretching endlessly across the wilderness below. As the sun begins to set, watch the colours of the range shift from deep ochre to brilliant orange before returning to your luxury safari-style lodge, where dinner beneath a canopy of stars provides the perfect ending to another remarkable day in the Australian Outback.
Accommodation: Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge

day 11-13 Broome

For those wishing to venture further afield, optional full-day adventures to the spectacular Dampier Peninsula or the incredible Horizontal Falls offer unforgettable opportunities to experience the raw beauty of the Kimberley from both the air and the water. Returning to Broome each evening, enjoy fresh seafood, waterfront dining and the wonderfully relaxed pace that makes this coastal town so special.
Accommodation: Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa

day 14-16 Perth

If time allows, escape to nearby Rottnest Island for a day of cycling, secluded beaches and the chance to meet the island's famous quokkas, or simply spend your final afternoon enjoying Perth's thriving restaurant scene with a glass of Western Australian wine overlooking the river.

As your Australian adventure comes to an end, Perth provides the perfect balance of comfort, culture and coastal charm, allowing time to reflect on an unforgettable journey through some of the country's most spectacular and remote landscapes.
