Australia is all about the extremes. The world’s largest island, it occupies an area roughly the size of the USA, yet much of it is a desert wilderness.
Our destination expert is Lucy Alderson who moved to Sydney in 2017 to study for a year as part of her degree. Lucy studied Politics and Economics including ‘Aboriginal Political History’ where she learnt about the shifting political rationalities and how this has shaped Aboriginal social, cultural and economic life.
Lucy spent most of her time in Sydney and enjoyed visiting a different beach every weekend and one of her favourite walks in Sydney is Rose Bay to Neilson Park, where you could find little secret beaches and spots along the way. During her time there, Lucy did a lot of travelling around Australia. She travelled along the whole of the East Coast and spent time in Adelaide and Melbourne with friends and family. She also spent time in Saratoga for the Christmas Period and loved having a traditional Aussie Christmas Day. One of her favourite experiences was staying in the Hunter Valley wine region and taking a Hot Air balloon over the valley at sunrise. White Night in Melbourne which is an all-night lights and arts festival will live long in Lucy’s memory.
We are delighted to have Lucy join our team. She has just been certified by the Tourism Australia as an Australia specialist and no doubt will share her passion and enthusiasm for Australia with you. Lucy also plans to visit Australia again later this year and this time will be discovering mainly the West coast of this wonderful land.
If you love the great outdoors, Australia will make you happy. Thanks to the climate, so much of life is lived outside. You can surf the breaks at Long Reef Beach and climb the Blue Mountains later the same day. You can try wine tasting on Mornington Peninsula and then ski Australia style at Falls Creek or explore the Great Ocean Road. And diving the Whitsundays and marvelling at the underwater universe of the Great Barrier Reef is one of the great experiences.
