Tailor Made Tour Charity Climb for AfriKids 8 nights
About this itinerary
Summit the Roof of Africa and raise money for charity on our fully inclusive trekking expedition to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Our charity partner, AfriKids, are a Ghana based charity determined to raise education levels and future prosperity for rural communities in Ghana. We have chosen to work with them as we believe in their vision of improving education standards in West Africa. AfriKids thoughtful approach is designed to do just that whilst considering individual community’s needs and traditions. To learn more about the projects they are involved in and how you can help, visit https://afrikids.org/
If you have another charity close to your heart, you are welcome to raise for them instead of or as well as AfriKids. We donate £50 on behalf of every client we send to Africa to AfriKids, which for this special departure, we are doubling to £100.
We've chosen the longer version of the famous Macheme route. The extra night on the mountain improves your body's ability to acclimatise and catapults the success rate by a huge margin. We contract only the best guides and crews on the mountain, whose priority at all times is your safety and enjoyment.
The only things we can't do for you is the training and fundraising, but even there, we'll provide guidance and resources to get you started.
This package has everything you need to reach the summit in relative comfort and is one of the highest standards available on the mountain. For an even higher level of comfort, we have a selection of optional upgrades available to consider.

Physically speaking, the trekking is not very difficult, but you may feel the changes in altitude, so pay attention to your body and remember that choosing the proper pace is extremely important for good trekking.
When you reach the camp, you will have lunch and some rest, after which the group will go on an acclimatization hike towards Lava Tower Camp with a 300-metre gain in altitude. Back down at Shira Camp you will be served a hot dinner.
