Volcanoes National Park
Set high on the jungle covered Virunga Mountains, Volcanoes National Park is the perfect setting to spend time with the incredible Mountain Gorilla, a lifelong ambition for many a traveller. For those able to linger longer the park also offers a huge variety of wildlife to encounter along a network of hiking trails, complex cave systems and beautiful volcanic crater lakes.
Akagera National Park
A beautifully varied landscape comprised of low lying mountains, open savannah and lush wetlands make Akagera a rich biodiverse safari destination. In addition to traditional game drives, walking safaris and swamp cruises are a great way to see the abundant big game and 500 species of birds.
Nyungwe Forest National Park
Centred around lush forested valleys Nyungwe NP is a treasure trove of wildlife waiting to be discovered. Over 100 mammals and reptiles and 300 bird species inhabit the forest, but the main draw has to be the chance to see wild Chimpanzees, one of the few places left in Africa where these fascinating and intelligent animals are thriving.
